University of Cincinnati offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is staying with the Bearcats after interviewing for the same position at Vanderbilt University, according to a report Thursday via Twitter from ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.
Denbrock interviewed last week with the Commodores, according to multiple reports. He has been UC's offensive coordinator for all four of Luke Fickell's seasons as head coach.
Last month, Vanderbilt named Clark Lea - Notre Dame's defensive coordinator for the past three season - its new head coach. Denbrock was an assistant at Notre Dame under head coach Brian Kelly from 2010 to 2016, but Denbrock left for UC as Lea was arriving at Notre Dame.
Denbrock also has coached at Indiana State, Washington, Stanford, Buffalo, Illinois State, Michigan State and his alma mater - Grand Valley State - where he also coached with Kelly for several seasons.
The Fighting Irish announced earlier this month that they hired defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Marcus Freeman, who spent the past four seasons at UC. Director of recruiting Chad Bowden is joining Freeman in South Bend, per a report from The Enquirer earlier this week.
UC associate head coach and running backs coach Dan Enos was announced earlier this month as the University of Maryland Terrapins' new offensive coordinator.
