Seattle Kraken broadcaster Everett Fitzhugh shared a heartfelt tribute to Hockey Hall of Famer Willie O'Ree - the first Black player in National Hockey League history - on the 63rd anniversary of O'Ree's debut for the Boston Bruins.
Fitzhugh, who spent five seasons as the Cincinnati Cyclones' play-by-play announcer and director of media relations, left last August for Seattle to become the NHL's first Black full-time team play-by-play announcer when the expansion franchise commences play.
Last week, the Boston Bruins announced that they plan to retire O'Ree's No. 22 on Feb. 18. O'Ree turned 85 last October.
