Police have identified a man shot and killed Monday night in Westwood.
A release from Cincinnati police said James Ellison, 39, was shot in the 3300 block of Werk Road at about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 21.
Cincinnati police Captain Doug Snider told The Enquirer Monday night the man died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Ellison was found inside a crashed car and Snider said it appeared the man drove after being shot. The car had front-end damage and struck a retaining wall and a utility pole before coming to a stop. Firefighters pulled the man out of the car and attempted to save his life, Snider said.
Police closed Werk Road between Glenmore Avenue and Belden Circle. Enquirer media partner FOX19 reported Cincinnati police said a SWAT team was called in to investigate the possibility there was a second victim in a house, but the scene was cleared after 1 a.m. with no additional victims located.
Police do not have a suspect in custody.
The Cincinnati Police Department's homicide unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 513-352-3542.
