Newly released body camera footage shows the arrest of a Milford police officer accused of driving under the influence.On the last Friday night of April, at 11:38, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper pulled Tanner Williams, 29, over on a stretch of northbound 275 near the Eastgate Mall exitOn body camera the trooper can be heard saying he stopped Williams for traveling out of the lane along the highway. Body camera footage shows the trooper ask Williams if he had anything to drink. When the trooper asked if he's had some drinks, Williams responded "a little bit." The trooper then asked Williams to get out of the car, and the trooper can be heard saying he smells alcohol on Williams' breath.Williams said he was in Covington for a bachelor party and driving back to Goshen. On the body camera, he can be heard saying he's had a few drinks but declined any field sobriety tests, prompting the trooper to place him under arrest and later charging him with OVI — or operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.Williams pleaded not guilty Friday morning in Clermont County's Municipal Court. WLWT investigator Todd Dykes reached out to Williams' attorney for comment but has yet to hear back.As a result, Milford's police chief told Dykes that Williams has been on administrative leave. Starting Monday, Williams was placed on desk duty for the foreseeable future. The 29-year-old joined Milford's police department in April 2021.His arrival on the force was marked by applause and appreciation during a council meeting at the time, with Williams talking about what he hoped his future held."I'll just say that I appreciate the opportunity to fulfill my career as a police officer with the city of Milford," Williams said two years ago. "And I couldn't be more excited to see what opportunities there are to come for me here. And thank you all." On Tuesday, Williams' attorney asked the judge for more time before the next hearing. The judge agreed. His next court date is set for June 6 at 1 p.m.
