Rice grad transfer Quincy Olivari committed to Xavier Sunday night. He announced the commitment on his Instagram account Sunday night and also on the Field of 68 podcast.
Olivari averaged 18.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 33.6 minutes per game last season, starting all 35 games in which he played. Olivari played in 113 games over four seasons with the Owls. He is Rice’s all-time leader in 3-pointers and a two-time all-conference selection in Conference USA.
Multiple reports had Olivari visiting Xavier over the weekend.
Among his top games last season were 28 points against Texas, who eliminated Xavier in the Sweet 16 in March, and 27 against Final Four qualifier Florida Atlantic.
Sunday night, Olivari told the League Him recruiting service “Sean Miller and his staff made me a priority from day one, expressing their belief that I could come in and take my game to the next level while playing on the biggest stage."
Rick Broering, a broadcaster for NKU games and a college basketball analyst., said “Olivari is a 6-3, 200-pound shooter. He has deep range and plays well off of kick-outs with craftiness in the mid-range. He also draws a lot of fouls.”
It’s the second transfer guard from Conference USA that Sean Miller has landed this month.
The Muskies got a commitment Monday from Western Kentucky transfer Dayvion McKnight, a point guard who spent the past three seasons with the Hilltoppers. McKnight was the 2020 Kentucky Mr. Basketball for Martha Layne Collins High School.
Last week, Indiana transfer Logan Duncomb, a former Moeller High School standout, committed to Xavier.
