Jack Nunge, who has played the past two seasons for the Xavier University Musketeers, announced Thursday via Twitter that he won't play a seventh season of college basketball, and will instead pursue a professional basketball career.
Nunge transferred to XU after spending his first four seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes. He averaged 14.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 blocks in 29.3 minutes per game last season and was named All-Big East honorable mention.
Nunge played in 73 games over two seasons with the Muskies, starting 56 of them. He played in 61 games over four seasons at Iowa, but redshirted two of those seasons.
He had a COVID-19 season of eligibility left if he had wanted it.
"College basketball, it is time for me to say goodbye. At times, it felt like I was going to be a student-athlete forever, LOL. That said, I am grateful for each and every year you gave me. I'll forever remember this season and Sweet 16 run we went on," Nunge tweeted. "I'll be a Musketeer forever and I can't wait to find out where basketball takes me next."
Nunge participated in Xavier's Senior Night ceremony last month before a win against Butler to conclude the regular season.
He tweeted after XU lost to Texas in the NCAA tournament:
Guards Adam Kunkel and Souley Boum are out of eligibility, and Colby Jones declared for the 2023 NBA draft. The Muskies have received commitments from Western Kentucky transfer Dayvion McKnight and former Moeller High School standout and Indiana transfer Logan Duncomb.
