CURTIS, LINDSEY, WHAT A TRAGIC SITUATION. THE PRINCIPAL AT THE SCHOOL BEHIND ME, SAINT JAMES, SENDING OUT AN EMAIL EARLIER TODAY TO PARENTS ABOUT THIS TRAGEDY. AND THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. NOW, IN THAT EMAIL, IT READS THAT SOMETIME OVER THE WEEKEND, PRINCIPAL CHRISSY RIGGINS LEARNED A STUDENT WAS A VICTIM OF AN ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING. SHE SAYS THE STUDENT IS AN EIGHTH GRADER AND HE IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL. NOW THAT EMAIL GOES ON TO SAY THAT TOMORROW SHE PLANS TO MEET WITH EIGHTH GRADERS, ALONG WITH THE TEACHERS, A DEACON AT THE SCHOOL AND SEVERAL HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY. S WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE FOR KIDS TO TALK TO AND ASK QUESTIONS TO THE SAINT XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL. THERAPY DOG WILL ALSO BE AT SCHOOL TOMORROW. A student at St. James school in White Oak has been hospitalized after an accidental shooting this weekend, the principal of the school said in an email to parents.According to principal Chrissy Riggins, the eighth grade student is in critical condition at Children's Hospital.It is not known at this time where the shooting took place.In response, the school said they plan to pull the eighth-grade class, along with eighth-grade teachers and several area high school counselors and psychologists for students to speak to.St. Xavier High School is also sending their therapy dog with their director of school psychology and counseling. The dog will be confined to a classroom with the door locked.WLWT has reached out to police for more information on the incident and will update this story as more information comes in.
