'We'll come back strong': Bengals QB Joe Burrow looks ahead after AFC Championship loss
23-20 THE FINAL. >> LET’S GET TO NEWS ANCHOR SHEREE PAOLELLO WHO IS AT ARROWHEAD STADIUM. A DISAPPOINTING LOSS FOR THE BOYS. YOU WERE THERE LAST YEAR AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT OUTCOME. HOW ARE THINGS FEELING WITH THE GUYS THIS YEAR AS THEY WERE WALKING OUT OF THE FIELD? >> YOU KNOW ASHLEY, LAST YEAR WE WERE IN THE SAME TUNNEL, AT THE SAME STADIUM. EVERY PLAYER WAS STOPPING, EVERY PLAYER WANTED TO TALK WITH US. AND OF COURSE TONIGHT, IT WAS HEARTBREAKING. A TOTALLY DIFFERENT FEEL. THE PLAYERS WALKING BY, THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT US. THEY JUST KEPT WALKING, HEAD DOWN. MANY OF THEM WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES. THEY’RE GETTING HECKLED AS THEY’RE WALKING OFF THE FIELD BY KANSAS CITY FANS WHO ARE FINALLY SAYING YOU DO NOT GET THE FOURTH ONE, YOU DON’T GET THE FOURTH ONE. I’M LOOKING AT A GUY OVER MY SHOULDER WHO HAS GOT A SIGN THAT SAYS JOE BURROW YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER. IT HAS A PICTURE OF JERRY SPRINGER, SO YOU JUST FELT LIKE THESE FANS REALLY WANTED THIS. KANSAS CITY FANS. AND BY THE WAY AS SOON AS THIS HAPPEN, AS SOON AS KANSAS CITY GOT WITHIN FIELD GOAL RANGE, YOU SAW THE ORANGE AND BLACK LEAVING THE STADIUM. THEY KNEW IT WAS OVER AND WHAT A HEARTBREAKER. I’VE GOT TO TELL YOU, GEORGE WAS HITTING ON THIS IN SO MANY OF THE FANS I TALKED TO OUT HERE IN KANSAS CITY THIS WEEK, WHETHER IT WAS A BENGALS FAN OR A DIEHARD KASICH FAN SAID YOU CANNOT HAVE TURNOVERS. YOU CANNOT HAVE PENALTIES. YOU CANNOT HAVE SEX. YOU’VE GOT TO SPLIT -- YOU HAVE TO PLAY SMART FOOTBALL. IT JUST KILLED US. WE’VE GOT 11 PENALTIES. I COUNTED FOUR SACKS, AND WHETHER THEY WERE BURROS FAULT OR NOT, THOSE ARE KEY PLAYS. STILL, WE STAYED IN THIS GAME AND YOU FELT LIKE THE BENGAL BOYS WERE GOING TO DO WHAT THEY DO BEST. THEY WERE GOING TO MARCH DOWN HERE. THEY CAME DOWN IN THE SECOND HALF, ABLE TO TIE IT UP. AND YOU THOUGHT OK, HERE WE GO. THEY’RE GOING TO MAKE THE DRIVE. MONEY MAC IS GOING TO HIT A FIELD GOAL AND WE WILL BE BACK IN THE SUPER BOWL AND UP TO ARIZONA. THEN UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS THE DEVASTATING SACK. OUR DEFENSE, AS SOLID AS THEY WERE, THEY WERE ON THE FIELD A LOT, THEY JUST COULD NOT STOP PATRICK MAHOMES. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MAY TIMES I LOOKED OVER INTO THE PRESS BOX AND DIFFERENT REPORTERS, DIFFERENT PHOTOGRAPHERS SAID SO MUCH FOR THE UPPER AND GIRL -- UPPER ANGLE. HE DID WHAT PATRICK MAHOMES DOES. SO YOU KNOW, WE CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH, IT IS A HEARTBREAKER. FANS SO DISAPPOINTED. AS I WAS TRY TO COME ALIVE TO YOU RIGHT AFTER THE GAME, UNFORTUNATELY, WE WERE HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING A SIGNAL OUT HERE. I LOOK UP AND ALL I CAN SEE -- ALL I SEE IS RED AND GOLD EXCEPT FOR ONE LITTLE BOY IN ORANGE AND BLACK WITH HIS BENGALS JACKET ON. AND IT JUST TEARS COMING DOWN HIS FACE. IT IS HEARTBREAKING. AND A SHORT TIME AGO, AFTER I WENT UP THE TUNNEL, I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE ROOM WHERE ZAC TAYLOR AND JOE BURROW WERE GIVING THE INTERVIEWS THAT YOU JUST SAW A FEW MINUTES AGO. COACH TAYLOR IS WALKING OUT AND THEY GAVE THIS HUGE EMBRACE. YOU DID FEEL THE LOVE AND RESPECT THAT THEY HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND THEN JOE BURROW WENT IN THERE AND TOOK THE PODIUM AND WAS GRACIOUS AS HE ALWAYS IS. HE TALKED ABOUT THEY CAME IN HERE, KANSAS CITY WITH A GAME PLAN. THE RUSHING WAS FIERCE. THEY WERE GOING AT IT ALL NIGHT TONIGHT AND UNFORTUNATELY, WE COULD NOT PULL IT OUT THIS TIME. BUT YOU KNOW, LOOK, YOU JUST GET THE FEELING THAT THIS TEAM IS GOING TO BE BACK IN THIS POSITION MANY TIMES OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS IF WE CAN KEEP THESE KEY PLAYERS. >> RIGHT, SHEREE PAOLELLO LIVE FOR US. GET WARM AND GET AWAY FROM THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS FANS. ALL RIGHT, OF COURSE THIS IS DISAPPOINTING. SHEREE TALKED ABOUT THE TEARS, THE FANS AND OF COURSE ALL OF THE TRASH TALK SURROUNDING THE GAME. BUT YOU HAVE BEEN HERE THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, SHAREE HAS BEEN HERE THROUGHOUT THE BADGERS. YOU WANT TO BE IN THIS POSITION. YOU WANT TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS RATHER THAN KNOWING THAT YOUR SEASON IS ENDING IN DECEMBER. >> I HAD TO CHUCKLE WHEN SHAREE SAID THE PLAYERS WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT REPORTERS. THEY JUST WANT TO GET THE HECK -- THAT’S WHAT IT WAS LIKE COVERING THE BENGALS IN THE 90’S AND EARLY 2000’S. I HAD THAT HAPPEN A LOT TO ME. LOOK, IF YOU SAY YOU LOST A GAME IN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP, THAT IS A GOOD SEASON. I KNOW IT STINGS NOW AND I KNOW YOU WANT A SUPER BOWL TROPHY FOR CINCINNATI, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. I STILL BELIEVE THIS BUNCH WILL GET IT DONE AT SOME POINT IN THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS. THEY’VE GOT THE TALENT, THIS IS A GAME THAT COULD HAVE GONE THEIR WAY, IT WAS THAT CLOSE. NO REASON TO BELIEVE THEY’RE GOING TO FOLD UP THE TENT OVERNIGHT AND NEXT SEASON NOT BE IN THE SAME POSITION. I WILL SAY THIS, I KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO HARP ON THIS ALL OFF-SEASON, GET OFF TO A BETTER START. YOU DON’T WANT TO LOSE THE FIRST GAMES OF THE SEASON BECAUSE THEN YOU ARE BEHIND ON THE HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE. PLAY THE GAME AT PAYCOR NEXT YEAR. >> GEORGE VOGEL, YOU HEARD HIM HERE. PLAY THE GAME AT PAYCOR STADIUM. WE WILL HAVE MUCH MORE AT 11:00 ON WLWT. KEEP IT TUNED HERE. FROM KANSAS CITY AND FROM FANS, LOCAL REACTION AS WELL AND OF COURSE, YOU CAN GET T
