A Florida-based restaurant group is expanding to Cincinnati with its latest concept, the Filson Queen City Kitchen & Bar, which opens Thursday, Sept. 8, at The Banks.
Brimstone Restaurant Group, based in Pompano Beach, Florida, owns the upscale sports bar and restaurant. The Filson will feature scratch-made dishes and handcrafted cocktails using locally-sourced seasonal ingredients.

The 10,000-square-foot restaurant and bar, located at 25 E. Freedom Way, will include indoor and outdoor seating between Great American Ball Park and the newly renamed Paycor Stadium. It will also have views of the Andrew J Brady Music Center.
The Filson will feature a modern design conceptualized by a local design firm, the Drawing Department. The design incorporates the rich history of Cincinnati through an interactive, 200-piece memorabilia collage curated by local artist Jake Gerth.
"The Filson is a concept that we have been wanting to bring to the area for a long time. We’ve watched the momentum grow as each new phase of The Banks has been completed, and we feel like the Filson is a great addition to the existing restaurant community in downtown Cincinnati," Jeffrey R. Anderson, vice president of development for Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, said in a statement.
The Filson’s menu will include a variety of handcrafted cocktails, local beers, beer flights and its signature “beertails," in addition to elevated sports bar dishes.
Featured dishes include the FM Steak Sandwich, with marinated filet mignon, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, Swiss cheese and crispy onions; the Porkopolis Burger served with house-made barbecue sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, pickle and fried onions; and the Nola Pizza, with classic creole tomato sauce, andouille sausage, shrimp and roasted peppers.
The menu will feature shareable snacks like Über (De Rhine), which are braided pretzels toasted with everything seasoning and served with a honey mustard ham spread and beer cheese. It will also have Court Street nachos that are filled with fried corn tortilla chips, choice of chicken or beef, refried beans, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, pickled jalapenos and topped with sour cream.
