The Cincinnati Reds' official Twitter account went for the takedown, even after a nine-run win against the team's foe Monday night at Great American Ball Park.
A postgame tweet from @Reds suggested that Reds designated hitter Jonathan India - one of Cincinnati's stars of the 11-2 win - should have been the unanimous winner of the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year award:
The only first-place vote India did not earn went to Trevor Rogers, the Miami starter who faced India three times Monday night.
India doubled, walked and singled in his three plate appearances against Rogers - who allowed eight hits, two walks and six earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings - before hitting his first career grand slam in the bottom of the 5th inning against Miami reliever Zach Pop.
India raised his batting average to .240, and it was his sixth homer of the season. Rogers fell to 4-10 this season with a 5.85 ERA and 1.60 WHIP.
The Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith wrote that India's grand slam improved his batting average over his last 15 games to .298, and OPS to .954.
