Former Bengals offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who announced his retirement from the NFL in March after 16 seasons in the league - 11 of them with Cincinnati - will be part of Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" coverage.
The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway reported via Twitter on Wednesday morning that former offensive lineman Willie Anderson - announced Wednesday as one of two (along with former receiver Isaac Curtis) former Bengals greats selected for the team's Ring of Honor - said Whitworth will be at the Sept. 29 game against the Miami Dolphins at Paul Brown Stadium during which Anderson and Curtis will be inducted.
The Bengals announced in May that they'll face the Miami Dolphins on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday night in Week 4 at Paul Brown Stadium. The matchup potentially will feature a showdown between the top two quarterbacks selected in the 2020 NFL Draft - Joe Burrow (first overall) of the Bengals and Tua Tagovailoa (fifth overall) of the Dolphins.
After playing the past five seasons for the Los Angeles Rams, Whitworth, 40, won his first Super Bowl ring - as the oldest starting left tackle in NFL history - when the Rams defeated the Bengals on Feb. 13.
During his Walter Payton Man of the Year award acceptance speech at the "NFL Honors" show in February, Whitworth told a memorable story about Detroit Lions linebacker and former Holy Cross High School standout Derrick Barnes.
Amazon Prime Video announced in June that former Bengals quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be among its "Thursday Night Football" analysts. Fitzpatrick, who retired earlier this month following 17 NFL seasons, is expected to team with Tony Gonzalez and Richard Sherman for Amazon's NFL pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage.
Amazon will pair Herbstreit with former Reds radio play-by-play announcer Al Michaels in its "Thursday Night Football" broadcast booth in the fall.
