Cincinnati Children partners with group for Family Health Day

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati Children’s is making it easier for you to take charge of your health.

On Sunday, they partnered with First Ladies for Health for the fifth annual Family Health Day.

“This is a place where you can come, find out your numbers, find out if there’s an issue, and get right on top of it,” Cincinnati Children’s spokesperson Michelle Hopkins said. “That’s the main thing.”

At 12 churches and recreational centers throughout Cincinnati, people came out for free health screenings, ranging from mammograms to prostate exams.

“These are the opportunities to open the doors in our community and say, ‘Come get screened for free,’” first lady of Cincinnati Dena Cranley said.

Last year’s event brought in close to 2,000 people.

“It’s dispelling myths, dispelling stereotypes, and building trust of the medical establishment,” Cranley said. “And so it’s a two-way street and a reciprocal relationship and this is a great opportunity to visit people in their churches.”
