CINCINNATI (WKRC) - City public works crews are busy preparing for winter.
The winter operations team began preparations for snow and ice in early September. Drivers get training both in the field and in the classroom.
There is also a stockpile of 2,700 tons of salt, as well as other chemicals, to clear the roads. When bad weather hits, there are 3,000 lane miles of road to clear.
Residents and drivers can use technology to help find trouble spots.
The goal for city crews is that 24 hours after the snow stops to have a passable lane on each road in the city.
