
At halftime of Sunday's NBA All-Star Game at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, the league honored it 75th anniversary team, and a trio with local connections were among those represented.
University of Cincinnati guard Oscar Robertson, Middletown High School forward Jerry Lucas and Newport Catholic High School center Dave Cowens were all honored by the NBA.

All three won NBA championships and all three were named Rookies of the Year. Robertson and Cowens each won an MVP award.

Robertson, a 12-time all-star, also was the 1961 Rookie of the Year and the 1964 MVP during a 14-year career with the Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks.
He totaled 26,710 points, 9,887 assists and 7,804 rebounds for his career.
Lucas was the 1964 NBA Rookie of the Year and made seven all-star teams in an 11-year career with the Royals, San Francisco Warriors and New York Knicks.
He finished his career with 14,053 points and 12,942 rebounds.
Cowens played 11 seasons with the Boston Celtics and the Bucks. He was and eight-time all-star and was the 1971 Rookie of the Year and 1973 MVP.
He retired with 13,516 points and 10,444 rebounds.
