Tweeting about an NFL player expected to be among the best offensive linemen available via free agency this offseason isn't all that surprising from Bengals fans two days after quarterback Joe Burrow injured his knee during the team's Super Bowl 56 loss and the total number of sacks of Burrow - between the regular season and four postseason games - reached 70.
But the fact that New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead was trending locally on Twitter likely had something to do with a Pro Football Focus tweet Tuesday:
PFF has Armstead ranked No. 2 among its Top 200 players expected to enter free agency, noting that "there are plenty of teams with cap space next offseason - such as Jacksonville and Miami - that could make use of Armstead's services if the Saints opt against bringing him back."
Armstead's contract projection, per PFF: three years, $60 million ($20M per year), $43.75 million total guaranteed.
The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway said in her Bengals free-agency primer that the Bengals "find themselves in a good position from a salary cap standpoint but it’s undetermined at this point where they will allocate their money."
Per Spotrac, the Bengals are expected to have about $55 million in salary-cap space, which would be fourth-most among NFL teams.
Armstead, a third-round pick of the Saints in 2013, has played nine NFL seasons, all with New Orleans.
