Hamilton City Schools announced Arvie Crouch as the next head football coach of the Big Blue football program, pending board approval.
Athletic director Melissa Harvey sent out the following release Friday morning:
Coach Crouch brings a wealth of experience and a tremendous amount of knowledge to Hamilton High School Football, having coached in Hamilton from 1993 to 2008. Crouch has 29 years of coaching experience and 13 years of head coaching experience, compiling an impressive 95-48 record overall.

Crouch has been the head coach in Mount Healthy from 2009 to 2021, where he has led his teams to four undefeated Conference Championships and five total Conference Championships in the SWOC, with two additional conference championships during Mount Healthy’s affiliation in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference.
Coach Crouch has also been a four-time Southwest Ohio Conference Coach of the Year and two-time FAVC Coach of the year. Arvie’s passion for the city of Hamilton and Hamilton High School, along with his track record of success and leadership, leaves little doubt that he will immediately provide a positive impact on the Hamilton football program. Big Blue football is fortunate to have coach Crouch leading the program for many years to come.
Crouch Friday was ready to hit the gridiron where he had coached for 16 years prior to heading up Mount Healthy's Owls. From nearby New Miami, he'll now have a shorter drive to work.
"I feel like I grew up as a coach there and learned a lot," Crouch said. "I'm looking forward to giving back to that community what I know. They care about football and their sports and they're very excited about trying to get everything in the right direction and getting the right people in place."
Hamilton in the last two seasons has sent Malik Verdon to Iowa State and Kaleb Johnson to Iowa. Current juniors Breeon Ishmail and Gabe Verdon are the latest to garner NCAA Division I interest.
Crouch has experience in that area as well, most notably with David Montgomery who went from Mount Healthy to Iowa State to the Chicago Bears.
"I want to go in and affect kids' lives and help them out," Crouch said. "Make some good productive citizens, that's what it's all about. We've got 22 guys playing college football right now (from his programs) and over 70 kids in college over 13 years. I'm pretty proud of that and that's what we're going to do at Hamilton."
Crouch now leaves the Southwest Ohio Conference for the Greater Miami Conference which has been dominated by Colerain and most recently Lakota West. Those falling behind might be champions in other leagues.
"There's no breaks," Crouch said. "We're going to have to have our 'A' game ready every week and we will. We'll focus on us getting better every week and that's what we're going to do from here on out."
In addition to his head football coaching duties, Crouch will serve as assistant athletic director.
Crouch replaces Nate Mahon who resigned and recently was named head coach at West Clermont High School. Hamilton was 2-7 in 2021, Mount Healthy was 6-5.
