In a vote that ended Jan. 21, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, from high school sports action through Jan. 16.
Winners through the end of 2021 should have received a certificate through the school's athletic department.

The Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during all high school sports seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports. Send your nominations by Monday morning for this week's high school sports action.

The week's winners are:
Ohio boys basketball team: DePaul Cristo Rey - DePaul won two games this week. On Monday, Jan. 10, DePaul defeated Covington Latin 65-20. On Wednesday, Jan.12, DePaul defeated Immaculate Conception Academy 51-38. In the game against Immaculate Conception Academy, DePaul's team broke the school record for steals in a game with 23.
Ohio girls basketball team: Mariemont – Mariemont has now won seven of its last eight games and is 10-3 after picking up wins against Batavia, Taylor and Madeira.
Northern Kentucky boys basketball team: Dixie Heights – The Colonels moved to 12-3 on the year after a 71-65 won over North Oldham and a 77-72 win against Highlands.
Northern Kentucky girls basketball team: Notre Dame – The Pandas stayed atop the 9th Region with three more victories, beating Mercy 66-54, Cooper 55-44 and Male 63-55.
Boys winter team of the week: Turpin boys bowling – The Turpin bowling team broke several team records in a 3,069-1,371 win over Winton Woods. Team records broken were match total (now 2,769), high Baker game (now 269) and total Baker round (now 938).
Girls winter team of the week: Summit Country Day bowling – Summit Country Day topped Roger Bacon 1,960-1,773 and Deer Park 1,707-1,433 to improve to a flawless 12-0 in dual matches.
Ohio boys basketball big school player: Dale Yauger III, Edgewood - In a pivotal conference game Tuesday night against Mount Healthy, the senior guard had 23 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist while going 11-for-13 from the line in a 65-52 Edgewood victory. That took Edgewood to 4-0 in the conference.
Ohio boys basketball small school player: Tavon Tatum, DePaul Cristo Rey - In a 65-20 win over Covington Latin on Monday, Jan.10, Tavon scored 17 points and had 5 steals. In a 51-38 win over Immaculate Conception Academy Wednesday, Jan.12, Tavon scored 12 points and had 4 steals.
Ohio girls basketball big school player: Kassie Ingram, Kings – The sophomore had 16 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals in Kings’ 55-51 overtime win over Walnut Hills Jan. 12.
Ohio girls basketball small school player: Peyton Shafer, Goshen – She had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and six steals in Goshen’s 56-38 win over East Clinton Jan. 10.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball player: Quantez Calloway, Holmes – He scored 43 points with eight rebounds and three steals in an 82-76 win over Ryle Jan. 14, making 14-of-18 field goals. He also scored 33 in a win at Scott, making 12-of-17 shots.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball player: Kylie Aytes, Notre Dame – The senior led NDA with 19 points and added five rebounds, four steals and some clutch free throws down the stretch in a 66-54 home win over state-ranked Mercy.
Boys bowler: Layne Masters, Conner – He shot a 239 in the Cougars’ win over Dixie Heights.
Girls bowler: Emmee Depenbrock, Conner – She shot a 234 to help the Cougars defeat Dixie Heights.
Boys archer: Ethan Barker, Villa Madonna – He finished fourth overall and third in the boys division at the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference championships with a personal-best 287, leading Villa Madonna to a Division II/III victory.
Girls archer: Peyton Scott, Ryle – She shot 281 in the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference tournament to finish third in the girls standings and help the Raiders finish second as a team.
Boys swimmer/diver: Liam Connelly, Covington Latin – The senior set two school records (the 50 free and the 100 IM) and scored two first-place finishes in the 100 IM and the 100 free in a tri-meet Jan. 11 against Holy Cross and Campbell County.
Girls swimmer/diver: Jessey Li, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy – She won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke at the Southwest Ohio Swimming and Diving Classic Jan. 15-16
Ohio boys wrestling: Gavin Legault, Kings – The senior won the 176-pound weight class at the Charlie Moore Invitational with a 1:02-minute pin over his Finneytown opponent Jan. 14-15.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys wrestling: Corbin Walston, Lawrenceburg – He won the 152-pound title at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet, winning all three matches pin in the first minute of play. He is 26-0 for the season.
