CBS announced Thursday that Trent Green will fill in for Charles Davis as color analyst for its broadcast of Saturday's playoff game between the Bengals and Titans in Nashville.
Davis will miss the game because of COVID-19 protocols. Green will join play-by-play broadcaster Ian Eagle in the booth, with Evan Washburn as sideline reporter and Gene Steratore as a rules analyst.
In October, Green spoke at length during CBS' broadcast of the New York Jets' 34-31 win against the Bengals about an unnecessary-roughness penalty called against Bengals defensive back Mike Hilton on 3rd-and-11 that resulted in a crucial first down for the Jets with less than two minutes left in the game, insisting that the Jets' Ty Johnson initiated the helmet-to-helmet hit.
Green and Kevin Harlan called CBS' broadcast of quarterback Joe Burrow's regular-season debut with the Bengals in Sept. 2020 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
