CHCA head coach John Schablein picked up his 200th career victory Saturday as the Eagles defeated Dayton Christian, 60-55.

Schablein has had a long career in Greater Cincinnati high school sports, both as a girls basketball and softball coach.

Schablein is in his fifth season at CHCA and Saturday's win moved his record as an Eagle to 50-50. He led CHCA to a 12-10 mark in 2020 for the program's first winning season since 2014. Last year, CHCA went 15-5 and Schablein was named the Miami Valley Conference Gray Coach of the Year.

Schablein was the MVC Scarlet Coach of the Year last spring after leading CHCA to a 16-6 record and a trip to the district title game. The Eagles swept Scarlet foes (8-0) to win the division outright for the first time since 2016.

He was the Greater Catholic League and District 16 Coach of the Year in 2004 after leading the Spartans to the regional semifinals.

The next season, he was the Cincinnati Enquirer Division II Coach of the Year after leading Roger Bacon to a 23-3 record and trip to the regional championship.
