A Clarksville couple was caught scratching and choking a child on Christmas Eve, police said.Daniel and Kelly White were arrested and charged with domestic battery and neglect."I think the thing that struck me in filing these charges was the fact that it was Christmas Eve and the fact that there's a 5-year-old child who ought to be looking forward to the holiday, but instead EMS arrives and finds this child covered in feces, being assaulted," said Jeremy Mull, Clark County prosecutor.EMS were called to the White's home on State Street in Clarksville on Christmas Eve, according to a probable cause affidavit. When they arrived, they found the two on top of a boy, "scratching and choking him."Kelly White told police they found a bulge in the boy's neck, which they believed was a blood clot, and they were "attempting to make the bulge in his vein go away by rubbing it down his body," according to the affidavit.Police also found methamphetamine on Kelly White, Mull said."When controlled substances like methamphetamine are involved in a situation, it never surprises me the sort of outlandish behavior I see being exhibited," Mull said. "Unfortunately in this case, the child bore the brunt of that."The Whites are listed as the boy's "guardians" in the affidavit. They told police the boy had been with his biological mother – who is referred to in the affidavit as a "legal guardian" – on the previous night. The boy has since been treated for his injuries and is in a safe place, Mull said.
