While at home during the pandemic last year, that simple hobby sparked the "purr-fect" business for her family."One thing that we learned is that creative kids definitely need to have an outlet so that they can express their creativity and also express who they are to the world, and just like that, Kitty Paws was created," said Aliyana's mom, Kendra McCarthy."When I was at school, my friends used to call me kitty," said Aliyana, also known as "B.Kitty.""So we had her with an alter ego of a kitty cat and her love to paint her nails, and that's how Kitty Paws was born," Kendra McCarthy said. They sell Kitty Crates — which are all about self-care for elementary-aged children — that contain everything you need. Whether it's nails, a spa day or baking you enjoy, there are a variety of boxes to purchase.Aliyana said she has learned much through becoming an entrepreneur."I would say that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve it," she said.And more than a business, it has brought this mother-daughter duo even closer."It's been really fun, and I get to spend more time with you," Aliyana said to her mother."Us running our business together has definitely been something that's been a great bonding experience for us," Kendra McCarthy said.The McCarthy family hopes to partner with businesses in their community to bring their products to store shelves in 2022.
