Aftab Pureval endorses Dani Isaacsohn in state House

Incoming Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval knows who he wants to succeed state Rep. Brigid Kelly in the state House.

Pureval has endorsed Dani Isaacsohn, a 33-year-old community organizer from Evanston. Isaacsohn announced the endorsement to The Enquirer and will launch his campaign for the 26th House District on Wednesday.

This could set up a contentious Democratic primary in 2022 for the district that represents Hyde Park, Mount Lookout, St. Bernard, Oakley, Avondale and Madisonville.

In addition to Pureval, Isaacsohn released a long list of local Democrats backing his bid, including former Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory, incoming Cincinnati City Council members Reggie Harris and Meeka Owens, and Cincinnati School Board member Mike Moroski.

“I am excited for Dani’s candidacy, and for a partner and advocate for Cincinnati in the statehouse,” Pureval said in a statement released by Isaacsohn's campaign. “He has the energy, experience, and passion we need, and I am looking forward to his leadership in Columbus serving our city."
