It's been dubbed "The Crosstown Collaborative."
Two days before the annual Crosstown Shootout, players from Cincinnati – David DeJulius and Jeremiah Davenport – and from Xavier – Paul Scruggs and Zach Freemantle – conducted a joint press conference Thursday morning to announce the new endeavor.
The collaboration between both programs will give players the opportunity to engage with their respective fan bases through various events on an annual basis.
Three events will be featured.
The first event is Sunday, the day after the Shootout. It's a free youth basketball camp for local non-profit youth groups at Fifth Third Arena and the Cintas Center. Players from both teams will serve as camp instructors and mentors at their respective arenas.
The second event is coming in the spring of 2022 – a Fantasy Experience Weekend which will provide both fan bases the chance to spend a weekend living the life of a student-athlete, and it will include the opportunity to play in their program's arena and receive coaching from members of the current team, as well as a golf outing.
The third event is an alumni game. Former players from both universities will face off in an exhibition game with the home venue alternating each year. A date, location and rosters for the alumni game are TBD.
Both programs are working with ProCampsU, a division of G3 College, and according to a Thursday press release, "a portion of proceeds from the events will benefit local Cincinnati charities."
