CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A Cincinnati police officer is accused of making false statements to federal agents and filing false tax returns. Quianna Campbell, 39, was arrested on Feb. 14.
Police say they were investigating money laundering and other crimes connected to local nightclubs when they found texts between Campbell and a nightclub owner. In one text, the club owner asks if a person was an undercover officer. Campbell confirmed the person was an officer, according to court papers. They then discussed why the police would be looking at that club.
Federal agents questioned Campbell about the text conversation. That's when they say she lied. They say she said she would never put an undercover officer in danger like that.
Campbell also worked a number off-duty details from 2015 through 2017 but she didn't report that income when filing her taxes. She earned more than $81,000 over those three years, according to U.S. Attorney David DeVillers. She allegedly only paid taxes on about $3,200.
Campbell has been employed with the Cincinnati Police Department for 11 years.
Cincinnati Police released the following statement:
"The Cincinnati Police Department is aware of the indictment and arrest of Police Officer Quianna Campbell this afternoon. We will be monitoring the judicial process and provide an update if more information becomes available."
