Hamilton County health specialists update community on coronavirus plan

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Nine people are now dead in Washington state from the coronavirus. This raises the question of what's being done in our area to prepare for cases?

Hamilton County public health specialists met with county commissioners Tuesday to share how they are preparing for coronavirus cases that will likely be in our community. They said the risk in our area for coronavirus infection is still low. They do have plans in place, however, for everything from screening those at high risk to preventing its spread should it arrive here.

Interim health commissioner for the Hamilton County Public Health Department Greg Kesterman says if you're going to travel abroad, check the CDC website to see their travel advisories.

Also, masks won't keep you from getting the coronavirus, but washing your hands regularly and using hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes on surfaces could protect you.

County health specialists did say they will regularly update the public as we learn more about this virus.
