The University of Cincinnati Bearcats were without leading rusher Jerome Ford on Friday night in Tampa, and they still managed to defeat the South Florida Bulls by 17 points and rush for 202 yards in the process.
Ryan Montgomery led the way on the ground with 72 yards on six carries with two touchdowns. Quarterback Desmond Ridder, who became the Bearcats' all-time leader in TD passes during the 45-28 win, added 65 rushing yards on 13 carries with a rushing touchdown in addition to his two passing touchdowns and 304 yards through the air on 31-of-39. Ethan Wright had 37 yards on 10 carries and Charles McClelland contributed 34 rushing yards on six carries.
The Bearcats totaled 36 carries for 202 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Ford dressed, but was limited in warmups. He injured his ankle during the second quarter of UC's win against Tulsa last Saturday and did not return.
