Mike White rallies New York Jets past Cincinnati Bengals

New York Jets quarterback Mike White (5) catches a two-point conversion as Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple (20)defends in the fourth quarter during a Week 8 NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

New York Jets quarterback Mike White's dream come true was a nightmare for the Cincinnati Bengals.

White, making his first National Football League start in place of the injured Zach Wilson, passed for 405 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Jets to a 17-point fourth quarter Sunday to stun the Bengals, 34-31.

White's final touchdown pass - which gave the Jets their first lead since they scored in the first quarter for the first time this season - was caught by former Bengals tight end Tyler Kroft.

The Bengals failed to capitalize on the first of White's two interceptions.

And a controversial unnecessary-roughness penalty was called against Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton when Hilton's helmet met Jets running back Ty Johnson's late in the fourth quarter.
