A popular Over-the-Rhine restaurant announced it is closing after 12 years.
Senate Restaurant on Vine Street celebrated its last day of being open on Saturday.
The owners said they've decided to expand their other restaurant, Abigail Street, into the space.
They took to Facebook to make the announcement and express their gratitude to their customers for the years of patronage.
"In 2009 we set out to create a great neighborhood restaurant with nothing more than a little hope and a lot of ambition. Over the last 12 years we've been able to do some really amazing things because of this restaurant, it's created opportunities for us that we never thought were possible," the post read.
The owners wrote that it is time to expand Abigail Street into a larger space and that their entire staff is excited about the update.
"About five years ago Lana & I made a decision to open another Senate location in Summit Park. Our Blue Ash spot is nearly four times larger than the original and very much like that decision, it's time for us to expand Abigail Street," the post read.
The owners said it is a bittersweet feeling, but they have a lot of hope and excitement for what the future holds.
They invited customers to have one last meal at the Vine Street restaurant Saturday.
" We can't wait to show you what we've been working on," the owners wrote.
