A deputy was taken to the hospital Friday night after he was struck by a fleeing car while deploying stop sticks on US 42, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Around 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to Twin Hills Court in Union, Kentucky for a reported burglary in progress call. Officials said a vehicle was stolen from the residence.
Deputies located the stolen Audi SUV on Rice Pike and attempted to stop the
vehicle on US 42, according to the release.
The sheriff's office said the vehicle nearly struck a cruiser as it fled on US 42 towards Florence, Kentucky.
Officials said Lieutenant Chris Hall was outside of his cruiser on US42 at I-75 to deploy stop sticks and was struck by the fleeing vehicle.
The fleeing car continued northbound on I-75 and exited the interstate at Erlanger before the suspects abandoned the vehicle in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Baker Street, according to the release.
Lt. Hall was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call 911.
