A 16-year-old boy is dead following a Wednesday afternoon shooting in Cincinnati's Evanston neighborhood.The shooting was reported around 2 p.m. Wednesday on Jonathan Avenue near Montgomery Road.The boy, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The nearby Walnut Hills High School was placed on lockdown.Lt. Steve Saunders described a heart-wrenching scene, saying officers on the scene – many of whom were in tears – are consoling the boy’s mother.Investigators say they are searching for a four-door maroon sedan in connection to Wednesday's shooting.“We’re picking up the pieces, gathering the evidence, but we can’t do this without the public’s help,” Saunders said, urging the public to come forward with information.It’s the third shooting in the Cincinnati neighborhood in just as many days. The vehicle described in Wednesday’s killing is similar if not the same to a vehicle in a Tuesday afternoon homicide just a few blocks away.Yarsellay Sammie Sr., 39, was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon on Montgomery Road near Clarion Avenue. Police said he was attempting to cross the street when he was shot by an unknown gunman. That gunman was inside of a maroon sedan, investigators said Tuesday.Police say a man was also shot in the 3200 block of Gilbert Avenue in Evanston around 8 p.m. Friday. That man showed up at Cincinnati Children's Hospital by a private vehicle and is expected to survive.It's unclear if any of the shootings are related, but authorities say they are investigating.
