Ohioans are voting today in a nationally watched primary election, picking party candidates in races that could test the influence of former President Trump.
Seven Republicans faced off Tuesday for the chance to replace retiring Sen. Rob Portman: former state treasurer Josh Mandel, Trump-endorsed "Hillbilly Elegy" author J.D. Vance, investment banker Mike Gibbons, former Ohio Republican Party chair Jane Timken, state Sen. Matt Dolan, and businessmen Mark Pukita and Neil Patel.
The winner will take on one of three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination: U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, attorney Morgan Harper and tech executive Traci Johnson.
Ohioans are also picking candidates for governor. The Democratic primary features former Cincinnati mayor John Cranley and former Dayton mayor Nan Whaley. Gov. Mike DeWine is facing off against several Republican challengers: former U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci, Canal Winchester farmer Joe Blystone and state Rep. Ron Hood.
