The Cincinnati Bengals are sending wide receivers coach Troy Walters and scout Trey Brown to Atlanta for the league’s inaugural Coach and Front Office Accelerator on Monday and Tuesday.
More than 60 diverse head coach and general manager prospects from all clubs will convene with league ownership representation from all 32 clubs. The effort is designed to continue building a diverse hiring pipeline for future head coach and general manager positions throughout the league.
Walters, entering his third season with the Bengals, is viewed as a rising star in coaching circles. Overseeing a group with Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, Walters is praised for his ability to connect with his players. Walters and head coach Zac Taylor first connected when they were both coaches at Texas A&M in 2010-11.

Prior to his stint with the Bengals, Walters coached at North Carolina State, Colorado, Central Florida and Nebraska in 2018-19 before joining Taylor in Cincinnati.
Walters was a standout player at Stanford where he won the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's top receiver, in 1999. He enjoyed a brief stint in the NFL as he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Walters went on to also play for the Colts, Cardinals and Lions. Over eight seasons, he caught 98 passes for 1,135 yards and nine touchdowns.
Brown, hired by the Bengals in 2021 as a scout, played in the NFL for two seasons before embarking on his career in the front office. He’s worked for the New England Patriots as a scouting assistant and area scout and the Philadelphia Eagles as the director of college scouting. He then moved on to the Alliance of American Football as an executive vice president of football operations and the St. Louis BattleHawks as the director of player personnel.
