The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to play one Thursday Night Football game this season, against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 at Paul Brown Stadium on Sept. 29 on Amazon Prime Video.
The matchup - revealed with the 2022 NFL schedule release - potentially will feature a showdown between the top two quarterbacks selected in the 2020 NFL Draft - Joe Burrow (first overall) of the Bengals and Tua Tagovailoa (fifth overall) of the Dolphins.
The two teams have met once since both players were drafted - with the Dolphins winning 19-7 in Miami - but Burrow did not play, having suffered a season-ending knee injury two weeks earlier against Washington.
Tagovailoa completed 26-of-39 passes for 296 yards with a touchdown in that game, and was not sacked or intercepted.
In Nov. 2019, Burrow passed for 393 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 1 LSU past Tagovailoa and the Alabama Crimson Tide, 46-41. Burrow went on to win the Heisman Trophy and lead the Tigers to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
The Bengals announced earlier that they'll open the upcoming season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, for the first time. The second Bengals-Steelers game will be on a Sunday night, as will Cincinnati's game at Baltimore. Two scheduled Monday Night Football games include a potential first-ever showdown between Burrow and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Other potential firsts? Burrow taking on Buccaneers QB and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Tom Brady in Tampa, and Burrow returning with teammate Ja'Marr Chase to New Orleans' Superdome - where they won their title - to face the Saints in October.
Cincinnati's preseason schedule includes a Super Bowl rematch with the Los Angeles Rams, on a date to be announced.
