The top boys volleyball team in the state began postseason play with a victory over Fairfield. Elder has topped the Division I rankings every week dating to April 17, and look to continue their march to the state tournament on Saturday versus Sycamore.
Sycamore d. Loveland 26-24, 25-16, 25-22
After defeating Loveland 3-1 during the regular season, the Sycamore Aviators disposed of the Tigers in straight sets in the south regional tournament. The Aviators advance to the regional final to face top-seeded Elder, whom they lost to 1-3 earlier this month.
Moeller d. Mason 3-0
Moeller began their state title defense by defeating Mason in straight sets. The victory sets up a heavyweight match against St. Xavier on Saturday. The Crusaders and Bombers have played four times already this season with each side winning twice. The winner of the rubber match will advance to the state tournament in Columbus.
OHSBVA Division II regional semifinal
Badin d. Roger Bacon 25-11, 25-21, 25-10
After ascending to the top of the Division II polls, Badin, the top team in the south region, began their postseason with a straight-sets victory over Roger Bacon. The Rams now have a Saturday date with LaSalle, a team they beat 3-1 on April 20.
LaSalle d. McNicholas 25-20, 25-17, 25-23
In a night full of straight-set victories, the LaSalle Lancers kept the trend going, advancing past McNicholas. LaSalle has been a top-10 team in Division II this season but will face a tall task against top-seeded Badin on Saturday.
Carroll d. Fenwick 25-17, 25-23, 25-20
The Falcons' season came to an end with a straight-sets loss to the Carroll Patriots. Fenwick finishes their season with a record of 6-19, including 3-7 in the Greater Catholic League.
