Part of the Capitoline Wolf statue has been stolen out of Eden Park.The statue, a replica of a statue in Rome, was given to Cincinnati by Benito Mussolini and Rome in 1931.It depicts Romulus and Remis, twin brothers from Roman mythology, nursing the she wolf.Their story tells the events that led to the founding of Rome and was given to the city in honor of the Roman general Cincinnatus, who is the man Cincinnati is named for.Someone cut through the bronze paws and stolen the statue sometime between Thursday and Friday, police said. A park goer noticed the sculpture on her morning walk on Thursday and it was missing on her Friday morning walk, police said. Police have filed a report and will be investigating.
