Gulf Coast Showcase field includes Northern Kentucky Norse, per report

The Northern Kentucky Norse are among eight teams scheduled to play in the Gulf Coast Showcase in November, according to a report Sunday via Twitter from Stadium's Jeff Goodman.

The Toledo Rockets, Drexel Dragons, Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, Kansas City Roos, UT Arlington Mavericks, Indiana State Sycamores and East Carolina Pirates also are part of the tournament field, per Goodman.

The 2022 Gulf Coast Showcase is scheduled for Nov. 21-23 at Hertz Arena, in Estero, Florida. FGCU is in nearby Fort Myers.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies - a Horizon League rival of the Norse - won the 2021 Gulf Coast Showcase.

The Norse - 20-12 overall last season, 14-6 in the Horizon - have not played in the tournament, which started in 2013.

Norse head coach Darrin Horn and Rockets head coach Tod Kowalczyk were assistant coaches at Marquette under then-head coach Tom Crean for two seasons in 2000-01 and 2001-02.

Goodman also reported Sunday that the Miami RedHawks are scheduled to play in the Indiana Hoosiers' multi-team event. NKU played IU in Bloomington last December, losing 79-61.

The RedHawks played in the Gulf Coast Showcase in 2019, winning two games before falling to Wright State in the third-place game.
