A man taken into custody for questioning after the shooting death of a 9-year-old girl in Silverton Monday night has now been charged with aggravated murder.In a court appearance Thursday morning, 25-year-old Qasseem Dixon was charged with the aggravated murder of Da'Myiah Barton-Pickens. According to jail records, Dixon is also facing a charge of having weapons under disability.The shooting happened on Plainfield Road just after 11:30 p.m. Monday. Officials say it appeared to be a drive-by shooting, with gunfire into the home.According to court documents, following a robbery offense, Dixon and another person allegedly were retaliating by driving to the home on Plainfield Road and fired around 28 rounds into the residence with one round hitting Pickens-Barton, causing her death.During the arraignment, prosecutors stated that according to law enforcement, a relative of the 9-year-old girl is reported to have robbed another man. Prosecutors said that man then recruited Dixon and the two went to the house they believed the relative lived at and fire at least 28 rounds with one of the rounds killing the 9-year-old girl. Prosecutor's said Dixon has been previously charged with weapons under disability, possession of cocaine and fentanyl and felony fleeing and eluding. Dixon will be back in court on July 24 and is being held on a $2.5 million bond. Ryan Brown, the second suspect named in the shooting is listed as an inmate in the Hamilton County Justice Center. A third man charged in connection with the drive-by is 22-year-old Demario Williams. He was in court Thursday facing weapons charges. Investigators said he was in the car with Dixon when they sped away from police, but Williams' attorney said he had nothing atall to do with the shooting.Law enforcement is set to hold a press conference and speak publicly on the case for the first time Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
