Cincinnati Reds rookie pitcher Hunter Greene made his first appearance Tuesday on MLB Network's "Intentional Talk," discussing a number of topics with co-hosts Stephen Nelson and Kevin Millar, including his excitement for the "MLB at Field of Dreams" game between the Reds and the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 11 in Dyersville, Iowa.
"It's gonna be a really special moment and game," Greene said on the show. "To be able to take it all in and to be there with my team. MLB did an amazing job last year putting it on with the Yankees and White Sox, and I watched the whole game live. It was just really, really cool. It brought back a lot of memories and the beautiful history of the game and the movie. So to be a part of the team going in and going against the Cubs is going to be a lot of fun. A lot of history there between us and these two teams. So really looking forward to coming through the cornfields. Just another really cool moment for me. I've been blessed for my first year to pitch in some pretty amazing ballparks. ... So just to be able to take it all in and enjoy Dyersville is gonna be pretty cool."
Greene added that he last watched "Field of Dreams" when he was in middle school.
"Unbelievable movie, and a lot of history with the game. I definitely want to watch it before going in just to kind of refresh my memory a little bit. Not get caught off guard and kind of have some references as I'm walking around throughout the field. Just a great movie, and it's going to be an awesome experience going out there."
