The Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow is an ESPY awards nominee.ESPN released their 2022 nominees and the quarterback made the list for best comeback athlete.Burrow is nominated along with Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors, Trey Mancini from the Baltimore Orioles and Diamond DeShields from the Phoenix Mercury.Burrow returned to the field in 2021 after undergoing reconstruction surgery on his left knee. Many fans remember when the quarterback was carted off the field with a knee injury in November 2020. The quarterback returned for the team's season opener in September 2021 where the team won 27-24 against the Minnesota Vikings and proceeded to lead the team to the AFC North Championship game.From there, many can vividly recall the team's victory in the AFC Championship and go on to compete in the 2022 Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams. It was a playoff season the city hasn't seen in decades.Burrow was named Comeback Player of the Year at the NFL Honors.
