High heat index, chance for afternoon storms

TAKING A LOOK AT THE RADAR, IT IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY IN DAYTON AND COLUMBUS. THESE ARE JUST STARTING TO BUILD SOUTH OVER THE LAST HOUR OR SO AND YOU GET TO THAT LINE POPPING RIGHT DOWN I-71, MOVING IN THE DIRECTION OF MASON AND KINGS ISLAND. RAIN THAT HAS DEVELOPED IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES OR SO, JUST OUTSIDE OF LEBANON, SOME HEAVIER STOP -- HEAVIER STUFF OVER LEESBURG, DRIFTING TOWARD GREENFIELD. HEADING BACK INTO WIMBLEDON -- WILMINGTON AND CLARKSVILLE, CAN SEE POCKETS OF HEAVY RAIN AND THE SAME THING OVER TOP OF HAMILTON. WATCH THIS LINE, THAT THIN LITTLE LINE. THAT IS THE OUTFLOW THAT ASKED THE COLD FRONT AND STARTS TO TRIGGER POT -- THAT ACTS LIKE A COLD FRONT AND STARTS TO TRIGGER -- AS THAT LINE WORKS ITS WAY IN TOWARD THE 275 LOOP. WE WENT FROM NOTHING TO DECENT THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF PENDLETON, BRACK AND MASON, WITH SOME OF THE MOST INTENSE LIGHTNING AND RAIN CURRENTLY JUST OVER TOP OF MOUNT OLIVET. THESE WILL SLOWLY SINK DOWN TO THE SOUTH. IN BETWEEN, IT IS HOT AND HUMID AND IN OUR STORMS TODAY, WE DO HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN BEING OUR MAIN CONCERN. THESE STORMS FEED ON THE HUMIDITY, TRANSLATING INTO INTENSE DOWNPOURS WITH GUSTY WIND. FUTURECAST IS NOT DOING A GREAT JOB PICKING UP ON THE THUNDERSTORMS THAT HAVE FLARED UP IN THE LAST HOUR BUT YOU CAN SEE AS WE GET INTO THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING, THE POTENTIAL FOR ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT STARTS NORTH AND HEADS SOUTH, BETWEEN 5:00 AND 9:00. YOU CAN SEE THIS IS THE FIRST OF A COUPLE ROUNDS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS FOR US AS WE HEAD IN THROUGH YOUR TUESDAY EVENING. A SLIGHT RISK FOR STRONG OR SEVERE STORMS, HEAVY RAIN IS OUR BIGGER CONCERN OUT OF THE SYSTEM, BUT I EXPECT THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME LIGHTNING, SOME HEAVY RAIN AND IF YOU GET HEAVY RAIN REPEATEDLY, THAT COULD CAUSE AREAS OF HIGH WATER AND MAYBE SOME WIND GUSTS AND A LITTLE BIT OF HAIL. TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE RAIN DOES. UP TO THE NORTH, IT IS COOLING DOWN TO THE 70’S. IN CINCINNATI, WE ARE AT 90 DEGREES. THE HEAT ADVISORY WAS PEELED OFF OF THOSE AREAS TO THE NORTH WITH THE CLOUD COVER THE RAIN BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT SEEING THE 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURES AND TRIPLE DIGIT FEELS LIKE WE HAVE DOWNTOWN. IF YOU ARE RAIN FREE, THIS IS WHAT IT WILL FEEL LIKE FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THAT RAIN WILL COOL YOU DOWN. LOOKING AT THE FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, KIND OF MORE OF THE SAME. WE COULD START THE DAY WITH A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS DROPPING IN FROM THE NORTH AND THEN SEVERAL HOURS TO WARM UP, LETTING THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY BUILD. BASICALLY, THIS GOES ON REPEAT FOR US, TODAY, TOMORROW, ALL THE WAY IN THROUGH FRIDAY WHEN THE FRONT FINALLY MOVES THROUGH. FOR TODAY, 94, VERY HUMID, SCATTERED STORMS WITH INTENSE DOWNPOURS. These developing storms will tap into all that moisture in the air, so intense downpours are possible along with the chance for some severe storms with damaging wind the main threat. The good news is that the storms (at least briefly) break the heat.Into the late evening and overnight we'll be watching the potential for more clusters of storms to develop to our north/northwest and drop down overnight bringing a chance for storms to start Wednesday.Rounds of rain and storms (some strong) linger in the forecast off and on through the week. Heat sticks around until a front passes on Friday letting less humid (and cooler in the mid 80s) air take over for the weekend.
