A Cincinnati police officer is in need of reconstructive surgery after responding to a reported robbery on Friday night. After responding to the call, the CPD identified the suspect as Charlando Peoples. Peoples was seen walking down the street and was asked to stop by officers. The suspect ignored them and kept walking away.According to the Cincinnati Police Department, 16-year CPD veteran Johnny Harris calmly tried to talk with a robbery suspect in the middle of Sixth and Elm. Instead of talking with Officer Harris, the suspect swung a concealed metal pipe at Harris and broke several bones in his face. Peoples was arrested and charged with felonious assault. The Cincinnati FOP said they will do everything they can to support Officer Harris and push for maximum accountability for the man who viciously attacked him. "This is what it looks like to put your life on the line and answer 911 calls when someone is robbed downtown. This is what it looks like to serve your community," FOP President Sgt. Dan Hils said in a statement.
