A child passenger in a car that crashed in Clermont County early Friday morning, leaving the driver dead, died from his injuries on Saturday, officials said.
The crash occurred just after midnight Friday on Old State Route 74 near Stoddard Lane in Union Township, according to the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation revealed 19-year-old Haley A. Denton, of Owensville, was driving northwest in a 2012 Ford Fusion on Old State Route 74 when she veered off the left side of the road and struck a mailbox and a utility pole, before overturning, according to the highway patrol. The vehicle came to a stop on its top in the roadway.
The Clermont County Coroner's Office pronounced Denton dead at the scene, the highway patrol said. The juvenile passenger, whose name and age have not been released, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Another passenger, a 20-year-old man who also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
Officials say the crash remains under investigation.
