Four people were hospitalized on Friday after being exposed to fentanyl at the Adams County Jail, according to the Adams County sheriff.According to the sheriff, earlier on Friday, a jailer at the facility noticed that several inmates were "acting funny." That jailer, along with a first responder, went to check on the two inmates. All four people began to feel weak and nauseous and had to be treated with Narcan. The four people were taken to the hospital to be treated.According to the sheriff, the two inmates have been released from the hospital and are back in custody. The jailer and the first responder were still in the hospital as of 8:30 p.m. but the sheriff said they should also be released Friday.The sheriff said the inmate who was later discovered to have brought the fentanyl into the facility was taken into custody on Thursday night.The inmate who brought the fentanyl did not have a reaction. The sheriff insisted that the woman was searched but had the fentanyl hidden.All 55 inmates currently at the jail were temporarily transported to the West Union firehouse while the jail is being decontaminated.According to the sheriff's office, the decontamination process should take three to four hours.The sheriff's office said this is the first time an incident like this has occurred at the facility.
