Brandon Drury, traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the San Diego Padres just before Tuesday's deadline, made his debut for the Padres on Wednesday night in San Diego against the Colorado Rockies - batting sixth as the designated hitter.
Drury wasted no time endearing himself to Pads fans, hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the 1st inning in his first plate appearance for his new team in a 9-1 win.
It was Drury's second career grand slam. He hit one for the Toronto Blue Jays in Aug. 2019.
The Reds acquired shortstop Victor Acosta - the Padres' No. 8 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline - from San Diego in exchange for Drury.

Reactions: Drury brings Padres shortstop prospect Acosta to Reds
"Credit to the Reds. This guy signed a minor-league contract," MLB Network analyst Tom Verducci said. "Now they're turning him into a prospect. This is why you sign these guys in Spring Training."
Drury's teammate with the Reds earlier this season, Luis Castillo, impressed in his first Seattle Mariners start Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
