Ohio boys basketball small school player: Jake Fisher, CHCA – The senior hit five 3-pointers and finished with 25 points and six rebounds in CHCA’s 59-45 tournament win over Middletown Madison Feb. 19.
Ohio girls basketball big school player: Lily Johnson, Lakota West – The sophomore had seven points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals in Lakota West’s 65-35 tournament win over Edgewood Feb. 16.
Ohio girls basketball small school player: Lainey Zurcher, CHCA – The sophomore forward had eight points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in CHCA’s 53-26 playoff win over Georgetown Feb. 14.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball player: Ethan Mulling, Calvary Christian – He was named NKAC Division III player of the year and scored his 1,000th career point.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball player: Noelle Hubert, Notre Dame – She had 18 points to lead the Pandas to a 16-point win over top-ranked George Rogers Clark to end the regular season.
Ohio boys big school bowler: Aaron Neiheisel, Elder – The senior bowled a 455 (202, 253) to lead the Panthers to a win the Greater Catholic League-South quad meet Feb. 17.
Ohio boys small school bowler: Wali Khan, Summit Country Day – The junior was the highest-scoring district qualifier at the sectional tournament Feb. 15, finishing fourth with a 669 total.
Ohio girls bowler: Heaven Clark, Batavia – The freshman bowled a 628 series to become the total pin leader at the DII sectional tournament. Clark helped Batavia capture a sectional team championship.
Gymnast: Alyssa Carney, Turpin – She was the highest-scoring local gymnast in the floor event at the 2022 Southwest District Meet, finishing second place with a score of 35.175. She finished third in the all-around.
Ice hockey: Andrew Shrider, Talawanda – He scored the lone goal in the 4-1 loss to Columbus St. Charles Feb. 20 in the second round of the OHSAA regional playoffs, with assists from Parker Geshan and Jack Sikora.
Ohio DI boys swimmer/diver: Mason Bencurik, Oak Hills – The senior finished third at districts in the 200 free in a school-record time of 1:40.66 to qualify for state.
Ohio DII boys swimmer/diver: Jordan Davis, Wilmington – The senior was district runner-up in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke to qualify for state in both events.
Ohio DI girls swimmer/diver: Ashley Fryer, Lakota West – The senior was on Lakota West’s district-champion 200 free relay. Individually, she qualified for state in the 200 and 500 free.
Ohio DII girls swimmer/diver: Lily Mitchell, Summit Country Day – The sophomore qualified for state in the 200 individual medley with a third-place finish at districts. On the relay side, she swam second in Summit’s 400 free relay and 200 medley relay, both qualified for state.
Northern Kentucky boys swimmer/diver: Caleb Howard, Calvary Christian – The senior scored points at the KHSAA state meet in both of his events, qualifying for the consolation final.
Northern Kentucky girls swimmer/diver: Syd Whitford, Boone County – She swam on two state-qualifying relays at the KHSAA state meet and ended her career as Boone County’s all-time leading scorer.
Ohio boys big school wrestling: Caleb Stepp, West Clermont – He won the 175-pound weight class at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference meet Feb. 19 by a 12-2 major decision, helping the Wolves to a second-place team finish.
Ohio boys small school wrestling: Hank Williams, Bethel-Tate - The senior won the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference title in the 157-pound weight class by a 14-4 major decision Feb. 19.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys wrestling: T.J. Meyer, Walton-Verona – He won the KHSAA semi-state championship at 120 pounds and advanced to this weekend’s state finals.
Girls wrestling: Erin Martin, Walnut Hills – In the 155-pound weight class, Martin won her first state championship at the OHSWCA girls tournament Feb. 19-20 at Hilliard Davidson.
