WELL, GOOD AFTERNOON, STEPHEN. THERE WAS A LOT OF EMOTION, A LOT OF TEARS INSIDE THE COURTROOM THIS MORNING AS FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF GIANT WASPS, THEY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK. SOME SPOKE DIRECTLY TO THE DEFENDANT, MICHAEL AND DRUCKER, WHO INVESTIGATORS SAY HAD BEEN DRINKING AND DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE FROM A PREVIOUS OVI CONVICTION WHEN HE BLEW A RED LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF TYLERS ROAD AND BUTLER WARREN. THIS IS ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO. HE CRASHED INTO 18 YEAR OLD GIANT WASPY AND KILLED THE MASON TEENAGER IN COURT. A man has been sentenced to seven years of prison and has had his driving privileges suspended for the rest of his life following a fatal crash that killed a Mason High School graduate and father-to-be.Michael Ondreka, 25, was sentenced by a judge Monday, with the judge saying Ondreka could have been given eight years but didn't give him the max because he spared the family the torture of a trial by accepting a plea deal.Ondreka pled guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on May 22, admitting to driving recklessly with a suspended license from a previous OVI and causing the death of 18-year-old Jyan Waespe. Waespe had just graduated from Mason High School and was a soon-to-be father.As a result of his plea, another charge of aggravated vehicular homicide, OVI and driving under OVI suspension charges were dropped.
