Crash on I-71/75 in Erlanger causing morning delays
HURRICANE IAN NOW A CATEGORY 4 STORM IS AT 5 AM ADVISORY COMES IN MILLIONS OF PEOPLE STILL IN ITS PATH AS IT INCHES CLOSER TO THE FLORIDA COASTLINE. WE ARE LEADING THE WAY WITH TEAM COVERAGE. AND I AM TRACKING THAT CATEGORY 4 STORM AS IT MOVES INTO FLORIDA HOW SOME OF YOUR FAMILY’S FAVORITE VACATION SPOTS WILL BE IMPACTED AND WHEN SOME OF THAT RAIN HEADS OUR WAY. AND MET IT STARTS TALKS ABOUT CINCINNATI WOMAN THAT WE KNOW HERE LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW START ONLY TO HAVE TO SHUT HER BUSINESS DOWN AS IAN BEARS DOWN ON HER AND FLORIDA HOW SHE’S HUNKERING DOWN NOW. THIS IS WLWT NEWS 5 TODAY LEADING THE WAY HURRICANE IAN. SHIFTING IS PATH FURTHER SOUTH NOW A CATEGORY 4 JUST AT 5 AM COMING IN NOW LIKELY TO WHAT IS A CATEGORY FOR AND IT’S ALMOST MAKING LANDFALL. IT WILL BE THIS MORNING. THANKS FOR JOINING US SOME COLIN MAYFIELD AND I’M KELLY RIP, AND THIS IS A MONSTER HURRICANE. AND WHILE THERE IS RELIEF THIS MORNING IN TAMPA. WE STILL KNOW SOMEWHERE ON THE FLORIDA COASTLINE GOING TO GET HIT ALL EYES NOW ON CAPE CORAL PUNTA GORDA AREA DIFFERENT AREAS ALONG THE COASTLINE. YEAH. WE HAVE A LOOK ALIVE THIS MORNING FOR YOU A PICTURE HERE FROM A BEACH IN NAPLES, FLORIDA. THEY ARE IN IAN’S LINE OF FIRE THIS MORNING. YOU CAN SEE THE WAVES ARE ALREADY STARTING TO BUILD UP AND WE’LL GET BETTER OBVIOUSLY IDEAS AND PERSPECTIVES AS A SUN STARTS TO COME UP AS IAN INTENSIFIES. IT’S OUTDOOR BANDS SPAWNING SEVERAL TORNADOES AND BROWARD COUNTY TO TORNADOES HIT THE NORTH PERRY AIRPORT AND PEMBROKE PINES SEVERAL PLANES DAMAGE AS WELL AS AIRCRAFT HANGERS IN DELRAY BEACH DAMAGE TO PEOPLE’S HOMES. STORMS RIPPED THROUGH OVERNIGHT NOW FOR REFERENCE THESE AREAS ARE BOTH ON THE ATLANTIC COAST. SO AGAIN THE BANDS OF THIS STORM OBVIOUSLY HAVING ITS IMPACT. YEAH FOR THE LATEST AUDIENCE TRACK THOUGH. LET’S TALK TO METEOROLOGIST RANDY RICO RIGHT NOW, WHO IS HERE? YEAH. THIS IS A SLOW MOVING STORM, WHICH WAS THE CONCERN TOO BECAUSE THEN THE CHANCES FOR FLOODING CONTINUED TO INCREASE RIGHT NOW, OBVIOUSLY THE LATEST UPDATE HERE AT 5 AM 140 MILE PER HOUR WINDS, WHICH IS WHY IT’S NOW UPGRADED TO A CATEGORY 4 STORM. BUT ANYTIME YOU HAVE A STORM THAT’S GOING TO BE MOVING VERY SLOWLY THROUGH THESE AREAS, YOU KNOW, HOWEVER STRONG THE WINDS ARE TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS FOR THAT LONG CAN CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE, BUT NOW A CATEGORY 4 STORM AS IT MAKES ITS WAY TOWARD THE FLORIDA COASTLINE AND BASICALLY THE AREAS FROM SARASOTA TO NAPLES ARE THE ONES MAINLY IN THE TARGET HERE. IT ALREADY IS CAUSING BIG DAMAGE. YEAH, YOU’VE ALREADY SEEN IT THIS MORNING. SO A STORM THIS POWERFUL SHOWS YOU THAT YOU SHOULDN’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE OR UNTIL IT MAKES LANDFALL YOU MAKE PREPARATIONS OR EVEN TO LEAVE SO FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS AND IT’S BEEN A RACED AGAINST TIME TO BOARD UP HOMES AND BUSINESSES YOU SEE HERE AND JUST BECAUSE OF THE EYE OF THE HURRICANE HAS HIT THERE’S ALREADY DAMAGED BEING DONE IN SEVERAL PARTS OF THE STATE. ORLANDO AIRPORT IS SET TO CLOSE THIS MORNING AT 10:30 TOLLS ARE SUSPENDED ON FLORIDA TOLL ROADS. NOW WE TALKED WITH ANGELICA METALLUM. SHE’S A HAIRDRESSER WHO JUST MOVED LAST WEEK TO THE TAMPA AREA AFTER WORKING HERE IN MONTGOMERY, AND NOW SHE’S CLOSED DOWN HER SALON WAITING TO SEE WHAT IAN BRINGS. MOST OF WHAT WE’RE WORRYING ABOUT NOW IS LIKE HOW IT’S THE POWER SITUATION. SO IF WE LOSE POWER ARE WE GOING TO BE OUT A COUPLE DAYS A 24 HOURS 48 HOURS OR ARE WE GONNA BE OUT A WEEK? YOU JUST DON’T KNOW BECAUSE THE FLOODING THAT’S THAT’S WHAT WE’RE WORRYING ABOUT. COMING UP THE NEXT HALF HOUR. WE TALK WITH AN ARTIST WITH THE LOCAL TIES PREPARING FOR HIS FIRST BIG HURRICANE WITH HIS FAMILY KELLY AND COLLIN BACK TO YOU. ALL RIGHT BEAR. THANK YOU FOR UPDATING US IN THAT SITUATION THIS SALVATION ARMY OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PREPARING TO HELP WITH ARCANE RESPONSE, THEY DEPLOYED A MOBILE CANTEEN UNIT THAT SERVES AS A KITCHEN ON WHEELS AND IT’S A RAPID RESPONSE UNIT THAT THEY SENT TO. LAKELAND FLORIDA, WHICH IS ABOUT AN HOUR INLAND FROM TAMPA. THE UNITS ARE STOCKED WITH FOOD AND DRINKS TO FEED UP TO 5,000 PEOPLE. THE SALVATION ARMY SAYS IT WILL SEND UNITS TO AFFECTED AREAS ONCE THE STORM PASSES AND
