Bike builder creates homemade ‘Krazy Kustoms’


Kevin Wynne admits he's a different breed of bike builder. Wynne doesn't have a fancy shop, instead working from his apartment's dining room table. It's all the space he needs to get creative. "I've always kind of thrived to be different. Everybody is an individual, so we have to kind of — I try to show that. I think it comes out through the bicycles," Wynne said.Each bicycle he touts is an individual work of art. Many of the bikes start as rescues from a trash heap. Wynne recycles them and then painstakingly refabricates them, transforming each into what he calls his "Krazy Kustoms."Wynne says his visions often need a few tweaks from the original design. "The bikes tend to tell me as I create them which direction they're going to go," Wynne said.In thriving to be different, Wynne has succeeded in designing a distinctively different brand of bicycle which take many hours of meticulous, artistic work.Each of his custom bikes is built to ride. "There's nothing more satisfying than coming up with a concept, considering that a dream because it doesn't exist at this point, building what you thought couldn't exist and then physically riding what you concepted in your head," Wynne said.Watch the video above to see the full story.
