Kentucky basketball partnering with Kobe Bryant foundation for free skills academy


Underserved youth in Kentucky will get the chance to develop their basketball skills this weekend thanks to Kobe Bryant's foundation and UK basketball.Wildcats head coach John Calipari tweeted on Wednesday that UK basketball and the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation would be working together to put on a free skills academy for underserved boys and girls this weekend."Using our platform to provide opportunity and access is who we want to be and it was what Kobe Bryant stood for," read the tweet. "We're honored to play a part in continuing his mission by supporting The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation's efforts to provide opportunities for EVERYONE!"Calipari said they are working with local organizations to fill the spots for the clinic, but that if there are leftover spots, they will post a registration link for those.The Mamba and Mambacita foundation recently held its inaugural skills academy at the beginning of October in Orange County, California. Boys and girls ages 11-13 were at the camp playing alongside each other.Founded through the loving memory of Kobe and Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive impact for underserved athletes and young women in sports.
