Ryle advances to state soccer semifinals

Ryle High School boys soccer will play in the Kentucky Athletic Association state boys soccer semifinals for the second time in three seasons.

Ryle defeated Boyle County 1-0 Saturday night in Danville. The Raiders, 19-4-2 overall, eliminated the Rebels in the state quarterfinals for the second time in three seasons. Boyle County finished 19-5-2.

Ryle will face reigning state champion Paul Laurence Dunbar in the state semifinals 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington. Dunbar, 17-2-3 overall, defeated Corbin 10-0 in Saturday's quarterfinal round.

Ryle scored just 35 seconds into the second half on a shot from eight yards away from freshman Brice Denigan, his 16th goal of the season. Ryle posted its 10th shutout of the season.
